On Saturday the 3rd of December Gellibrand celebrated The United Nations International Day of Persons with a Disability. This day is dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging the achievements made by people with disabilities in their lives and in the community. It is a privilege to work in the disability space and support so many people to achieve what they want to, in the way that they want.
On Saturday we were offered the opportunity by Bunnings Sunshine to run a sausage sizzle to promote International Day of Persons with a Disability. We are grateful to Bunnings Sunshine for such a wonderful opportunity to build the community’s knowledge of the disability sector and what is being achieved in this space.
Such days cannot run without the support of many people. We would like to specifically thank Wayne Goodwin from Junction Meats in Hoppers Crossing for his very generous donation of sausages for both our sausage sizzle as well as our client function that occurred at Werribee Zoo. Wayne’s generosity in offering such a donation without being asked was greatly appreciated.
Gellibrand would also like to thank Werribee Zoo who moved functions around to make space for Gellibrand clients to celebrate International Day of Persons with a Disability at the zoo. All the staff we’re incredibly accommodating and helpful and assisted in making a great day for all who attended.
To our dedicated team of support workers, nothing would be possible without you and enough thanks and acknowledgement can never be sent your way.
To the clients who choose us; thank you, we hope we provide you what is needed to achieve all that you want to achieve and in a way that means you are truly the designer and driver of your life and all that you want to get from it.
To everyone who made these two events possible, our sincerest thanks go to you.
