For a disability-inclusive community!

Saturday, 18th February 10am – 4pm
At The Goods Shed, Ballarat Station.

Gellibrand Support Services is proud to present the Ballarat Community Fest on 18th February. It’s a fun-filled day dedicated to supporting those with disabilities and raising awareness about the challenges they face on a daily basis. This new event, which will be a first for the region, is aimed at bridging the gap between the disability community, those working in the sector, and the general public.

The festival is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the abilities of those with disabilities, rather than focusing on their limitations. With a variety of activities to participate in, including a disability expo, a jumping castle, an animal farm, a face painting station, a photo booth area, and live music performances, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

We understand that finding the right support and services can be challenging, especially for those who are on National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans. That’s why we’re excited to offer a space where people with disabilities and their families can connect with local service providers and find the support they need. Our goal is to help people on NDIS plans become more aware of the services and supports available in Ballarat and the greater Ballarat region.

At the festival, we’ll be bringing together residents and commercial leaders, with the hope of inspiring them to think more mindfully about some of the obstacles that those with disabilities may face trying to navigate the city. This could include modifications to businesses’ function rooms, theatres, and swimming pools to make them more accessible.

It’s our hope that this event will give businesses and those with disabilities a chance to raise their voices and make suggestions about modifications that could make a big difference in their lives. We believe that by working together, we can make small changes that can lead to a more inclusive society.

The Ballarat Community Fest will kick off with a traditional smoking ceremony at The Goods Shed Ballarat, setting the tone for a day filled with positivity and support. We believe that by bringing together different groups and celebrating the abilities of those with disabilities, we can help create a more inclusive community.

In addition to the fun activities, patrons will also have the opportunity to learn about the daily struggles and triumphs of those who work in the disability field. This will give attendees a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work in this field and the impact it has on the lives of those with disabilities.

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Ballarat Community Fest and sharing a day filled with fun, support, and education. If you’re looking for a way to support those with disabilities, come and join us on February 18th and be part of this exciting event!
