Residential Support Gellibrand Support Services provides long term residential placement for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. The purpose of residential support is to give Clients a safe and homely environment in which their emotional well being is cared for and they are provided with a friendly environment in which to grow and develop.
Living Skills Training Gellibrand Support Services provides Clients with an environment in which the development of daily living skills can be fostered. Clients are provided with opportunities to develop the skills necessary to live independently within the community. The development of skills range from cooking, banking and household duties, to social skills.
Recreational Options Gellibrand Support Services networks with external organisations to support Clients with opportunities to access local generic services of their choice. It is essential to liaise with these organisations to ensure that their Client approach is in line with disability philosophies and that services offered are both accessible and appropriate to people with disabilities.
Home First Support Gellibrand also offers Home First support to adults with disabilities who live with their families. Programs and techniques are compiled to suit each individual and their skill level. This form of Home First support can also be viewed as a form of respite for families with a member who has a disability, in that Clients are often supported and educated outside the family home at facilties such as the Jenny Burbidge Centre. In these cases family members are given the opportunity to catch up on daily tasks such as shopping or simply provided with down time. |
